Location
Guntersville is located at the southernmost point of the Tennessee River, situated 150 miles west of Atlanta, 150 miles south of Nashville, 70 miles northeast of Birmingham, and 30 miles south of Huntsville.
Highway 431 is the major artery through Guntersville. State highways 79, 69, and 205 also pass through Guntersville. Interstate 59 is 26 miles south and Interstate 65 is 40 miles west.
Transportation
Guntersville Municipal Airport is located three miles northeast of the city on Highway 431 north. The airport features a 3,360' x 96' newly paved asphalt runway.
Huntsville International Airport is 45 miles away and Birmingham International Airport is 70 miles, both offer several major carriers to choose from. Huntsville International Airport also offers an intermodal center adjacent to the airport to transfer, receive, store and distribute air, rail, and highway cargo. The City of Guntersville provides public transportation within the Guntersville area through the Guntersville Metro Transportation program.  |
