Lake Guntersville Chamber of Commerce Hires New Communications Director

Guntersville, Ala. – Morri Yancy, president of the Lake Guntersville Chamber of Commerce, announced the employment of Sarah Kate Edmondson as the organization’s director of Communications.

“We are thrilled to welcome Sarah Kate to the Chamber team,” she said. “Her experience and approach to strategic communications will be invaluable in advancing our mission and enhancing community engagement. We look forward to her innovative perspective and the energy she brings to Lake Guntersville.”

Edmondson is a native of Etowah County, where she graduated from Glencoe High School in 2021. A Magna Cum Laude graduate of Troy University, she received a Bachelor of Science in Communication Studies in May.

“Because of dual enrollment courses and my dedication to full course loads each semester at Troy, I was able to graduate a full year earlier than expected,” the 21-year-old said. “I have a strong work ethic and a reputation for being creative, analytical and a team player. I have a love of continuous improvement and life-long learning.”

Edmondson said she chose the communications field because of her passion for collaboration and cutting-edge technology.

“I really enjoy graphic design and writing but my deepest interest lies in social media,” she said. “To me, social media is a vital tool for connectivity, networking and marketing. It offers businesses a powerful platform for building brand awareness, visibility and credibility.”

Edmondson joined the Chamber staff on June 27. Since then, she has created a TikTok account for the Lake Guntersville Chamber of Commerce and has increased engagement with the Facebook and Instagram accounts.

“I’m so excited about producing content that highlights the valuable and meaningful work of the Lake Guntersville Chamber of Commerce,” she said.

As a college student, Edmondson served as a social media marketer for the Gadsden Variety Store and Café, a public relations and marketing assistant for Bama in a Box and an intern in the Public Relations and Marketing Department at Gadsden State. She also volunteered at The Chamber of Gadsden and Etowah.

At Troy University, Edmondson was elected a senator-at-large and appointed to the Presidential Cabinet of the Student Government Association; secretary of Lambda Pi Eta Communications Honor Society; director of Communications for Mortar Board National Honor Society; a member of Troy University’s Welcome Week Committee; a member of Alpha Gamma Delta Sorority; and a volunteer for the United Way, Salvation Army and Common Ground Troy.
