A Look at Alabama's Lake City

Guntersville is located in northeast Alabama at the southernmost point of the Tennessee River, situated 150 miles west of Atlanta, Georgia; 150 south of Nashville, Tennessee; 70 miles northeast of Birmingham; and 30 miles south of Huntsville.  Highway 431 is the major artery through Guntersville.  State highways 69, 79, and 205 also pass through Guntersville.  Interstate 59 is 26 miles south and Interstate 65 is 40 miles west.

 

Guntersville was chosen by Relocate America as one of the “100 Best Places to Live in America”.  Guntersville has also been featured in Southern Living, Sports Illustrated, Reader’s Digest, Where to Retire, and Field & Stream magazines.

The City of Guntersville is governed by a part-time Mayor and seven council members elected by district.  The Mayor’s office is located in the Guntersville Municipal Building at 341 Gunter Avenue.
