Located on the Tennessee River, south of Huntsville
Guntersville is located in northeast Alabama, at the southernmost point of the Tennessee River, situated 150 miles west of Atlanta, 150 miles south of Nashville, 70 miles northeast of Birmingham, and 30 miles south of Huntsville. Highway 431 is the major artery through Guntersville. State highways 79, 69, and 205 also pass through Guntersville. Interstate 59 is 26 miles south and Interstate 65 is 40 miles west.
The Guntersville Municipal Airport – Joe Starnes Field – is located three miles northeast of the city on Highway 431 north. The airport also has a recently completed 5,005 foot runway that can host jet aircraft. The terminal features a meeting and waiting area for guests and visitors.
Huntsville International Airport is located less than 50 miles from Guntersville and Birmingham International Airport is located 70 miles away, both offer several major carriers to choose from. Huntsville International Airport also offers an intermodal center adjacent to the airport to transfer, receive, store and distribute air, rail, and highway cargo.
