Rain Delays Chamber’s Golf Classic

Guntersville Ala.- The Lake Guntersville Chamber of Commerce’s 22nd annual Golf Classic was postponed due to inclement weather. The Classic has been rescheduled for Friday, Sept. 20 at Gunter’s Landing.

On Aug. 2, the Classic was going as planned with registration completed and lunch served. Each team played about three holes before the storm came rolling in.

“I appreciate the golfers and our volunteers for understanding our reason for having to reschedule,” said Morri Yancy, Chamber president. “Rescheduling was a difficult decision to make, but necessary given the impact of the storm.”

The Classic will restart from the beginning and the previous three holes played will be scratched. While the event was canceled and rescheduled, Yancy said she is hopeful that the same enthusiasm shown on Aug. 2 will be shown in September.

“All purchased Mulligans will be honored during the rescheduled Golf Classic,” said Emily Mayer, the Chamber’s director of events. “We look forward to welcoming everyone back in September. Summer storms can be unpredictable, but we’re hopeful for better weather next time.”
